ESDE is an embedded software development environment consists of eclipse GUI and GNU toolchain, together with some important utilities and examples, that enable you to write, build and debug C, C++, or ARM assembly language programs for the ARM family of RISC processors.

ESDE uses eclipse CDT as GUI framework. This makes it highly usable and extensible. Users can edit, compile, link, download and debug their programs in a integrated development environment (IDE) of eclipse CDT.
ESDE supports Win32 platform as host. Users don't need install Linux or Cygwin. To install ESDE, the knowledge on Linux shell or Linux programming are not required. A automatic GUI install application tool help user setup ESDE. Let users focus on the "real" part of their development
All GNU tools are built with MinGW libraries. This makes the binary tools directly executable on Windows and improves the performance of them.
The Multi-ICE GDB server is installed together with ESDE. Let users debug their programs with ARM Multi-ICE JTAG emulator.
